Texuba Vintage Kimono

Hey, it's finally Time to Throw In the Kimono,
and retire back home to Hawaii!

As stated in our last Website Notices & Mailings,
we are finishing off with Part 2 of our
Closing Countdown!

(drumroll......)

Announcing the Jaw Dropping Finale!!

The latest news is added!
Los Angeles, June 21 & 22, 2008

We saved the Vintage Kimono Twenty Ring Circus for the LA Texuba Last Blast!

Here is the news:

Well, it's taking a few lifetimes to complete this, but it finally smells like reality. We've been riding the forklift to the upper shelves. It is truly amazing what gets stuck up there, ancient forgotten shipments suspended in space and time. Doing our last shows this spring gave us time to put out all the majestic pieces that we discovered in those corners.

**San Francisco was great! Thanks to all who came, & special thanks to all who told us they are planning to join us in LA for the Big Finish!
Our Bay Area customers who will be rolling to town might want to give Virgin Airlines a try. Since their San Francisco to Los Angeles route is relatively new, their rates are very competitive.

For all you Traveling Textile Junkies who have been asking, we put some nearby hotel & restaurant information on the Los Angeles page.

If you are coming in to LA from out of town for the Last Blast in June, please notify us in advance in order to receive your newsletter. Usually, our Northern CA customers receive SF mailings, and our Southern CA customers receive LA mailings. Others who regularly travel to Texuba events from other regions have previously requested special notices on their green sheets. These are generally the only folks who receive specific mailings outside of the city where they reside. So tell us when you're coming, we'll be expecting you, we've got a lot of surprises planned!

Due to the large number of treasures being dug up from the rafters in storage, we will have a separate closed Vault Section at our LA Last Blast. Although our regular customers are familiar with this format, here is the definition for our new customers:
Our Vault Section is where we sell our rare and valuable items. When we do a closed Vault section, this area is closed off from the rest from the rest of the stock, and Vault items must be paid for in this section before they can be removed. There are also minimal handling rules in this section due to the rarity of the items.
Be sure to check out the Vault. You never know what treasures you'll find, and prices are very affordable, especially with the huge Last Show discounts.

"Fashioning Kimono," the awesome book that I recommended in our last newsletter, and which is now featured on our book page, is featured in an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Through July 20, 2008. If you're headed down that way, be sure to check it out, I know it will be a big treat!

Now that the end is in sight, I am refreshed with a new wave of enthusiasm. Too bad we didn't have a magic kimono counter that rang a giant gong when a customer bought the one millionth kimono from us. And then the clouds would part and a huge flurry of kimono and obi would descend upon this lucky customer. Okay okay, I'm getting too nutty from this excitement.

I had my cell phone switched over to Nextel, because it's the only one that will operate in the part of the islands I'm moving to. Just one of a zillion steps to complete this enormous project. At this time, I don't even know how long I will be bi-coastal, with work to do in both California and Hawaii.

As I visualize myself sitting in my future tropical art studio, who knows what kinds of art I'll create. I'm an eclectic who is really into embellishment and textures, otherwise known as artistically satisfying art that takes forever to be made.

If I do get into creating just a few items per year, then I really should consider selling part of my kimono and obi personal collection somewhere down the road. Various options for doing this - it could even be an informal get-together at a house, and would not be a Texuba event. When might this happen? It could be two or ten years from now, who knows?

But how to keep in touch? Unfortunately, most people do not keep their email addresses for a long time. Even a group of good snail mails will be beneficial for communication. It is for this reason that ALL SERIOUS TEXTILE JUNKIES SHOULD STAY ON OUR "CORE CUSTOMER" LIST, AND SEND IN CONTACT INFO UPDATES. Long-time customers who joined our list back in the stone ages when there was no email should send us their email info. We'll also add your phone # to the list if you'd like to provide it. Texuba will not share your information.

Note that the company is retiring, it has not been sold. As Owner, I retain all rights to the Texuba name & mystique.

IMPORTANT - ABOUT THE GREEN SHEETS:
We are formulating our CORE CUSTOMER LIST from current green sheets.
Signing our green Mailing List sheet at a previous show identified you as a CUSTOMER.
Legibly signing our green sheet or dropping your mailer in our box at every show you attend identifies you as a REPEAT CUSTOMER & gives you the top priority for future notices.
Signing up only on our website identifies you as an INQUIRY.
There is a big difference.

Many thanks to all the folks who diligently send us their snail mail and email address changes. Please continue to do. We will do our best to provide future contact information.

Note to Seattle & the Pacific Northwest:
We will not be returning to Seattle. Thank you for everything, we loved our visits to the Emerald City! If you roadtrip, come on down to the big Los Angeles Finale June 21-22!

Lots more news & information is posted on the Los Angeles page.

Thanks to everyone for the memories, for the years of love & support! Keep in touch, and may we all move on to wild and woolly escapades!
