Here it is, the news you've been waiting for, the very last Texuba Show in Los Angeles!
IT'S THE BIGGEST BLAST FOR LAST!
Our kimono journey took some turns and detours, but it has finally come to an end. Goodness gracious, and what an awesome journey it's been. Thank you for being a part of it!
Come join us to say sayonara and let's all take the final roller coaster ride in Textile Junkie Heaven.
We've been plowing and burrowing through all kinds of huge boxes and containers. Latest Shipments. Ancient shipments. Forgotten boxes. Trucked in loads out of our storage spaces. It's all been opened, and we can see
the bottom of the kimono barrel at last.
Those of you who love the magnificent older collector pieces will be thrilled to
the core.
We got a divine collection of men's haori with fancy linings ("inside-outs") in all price ranges for all the decorators and collectors who are always clamoring for more of these artpieces.
All the fabric lovers will be grabbing heart-thumping finds in kimono, obi and an amazing selection of our wildly popular textile panels!
Have you ever thought about what you could do with a White Wedding Kimono? We found a big stash of them! The perfect canvas for your painting or dyeing arts. Elegant fabric for a special gift or home decor project. At prices so low you'll want to pick up extras! Wow!
Fixtures, etc:
Also coming up for sale are cash registers, racks, gigantic industrial shelving, etc., etc. Scroll down for more info. Please inquire if interested. You can email or leave voicemail prior to the show.
Vault Section:
Due to the large amount of treasures being dug up, our Vault Section at our final show will be enclosed. The Vault Section is where our most rare items are shown. At some of our shows, this section is enclosed, which means that the Vault area is in a separate area from the rest of the show.
Vault items must be paid for inside the Vault section before they can be removed, and to protect the delicate treasures, minimal handling is allowed.
Be sure to check out the Vault! Many items are quite affordable, especially with the Retirement Show Huge Discounts, but are protected in the Vault because they're rare/unique/fragile.
Parking:
Very Important. The building for our show has its own large parking lot. If it is full, please do NOT park in Thomasville Furniture's parking lot next door on both days. Yes, Thomasville is open on Sunday. We want to be good neighbors!
Also, please don't park next door on the other side at the Surprise/gaming stores.
There is street parking around the corner on 230th St.
Food:
Don't worry if you're too excited to search for a restaurant.
A couple of doors down, there is Y-Not Burgers and the Seafood Town Chinese Restaurant. Across the street, there is the Grand China Buffet.
Hawthorne Blvd is the main drag that runs through Torrance, and there are a countless number of restaurants of all kinds.
(Note that food & drinks may not be brought into the kimono show.)
Bag Check:
Absolutely ALL bags, large purses, backpacks, carts, etc, must be checked at the bag check counter. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you need to check your large purse, we have small clear bags available for holding items like keys, glasses, wallet, medication, etc.
Please leave your big bags behind. We can check your Texuba items for you AFTER purchase, but there is no pre-purchase hold area.
Travel:
If you are arriving with your suitcase, we can check it for you at the bag check in the front of the room.
Our Bay area customers who will be heading down to LA might want to give Virgin Airlines a try. Since their San Francisco to Los Angeles route is relatively new, their rates are very competitive.

Mark your calendar, call your friends, make it a party!
We can hardly wait to see you all at the Humongous LA FINALE!
Thank you so much for all your warm and fuzzy goodbye cards and messages. It is such a thrill to receive photos of something you stitched up, or how you have hung a kimono in your home. I wish I could linger and chat with you all at the show, but I have to work in the show's back rooms and keep on shoveling out stacks of jaw-dropping textural treats. Believe me, we unpack faster than a flash of lightning, but keeping up to speed is an aerobic challenge!

Just a few other Notes, News & Comments
WHY ALL SERIOUS TEXTILE JUNKIES SHOULD STAY ON OUR MAILING LIST:
I plan to create art in my Maui studio with textiles. I love to embellish the kimono & obi textiles with paint, dye, beads, trim, polymers, etc. Being quite eclectic, my taste ranges from the incredibly sublime to the kooky and rare.
I confess to having had periods of Kimono Extinction Syndrome, when I realized I would never again have access to such an enormous textile wonderland.
Recently, I had a dream where I was stuffing a huge amount of kimono into an elevator. It was so heavy that the elevator crashed to the ground many floors below. I had a good chuckle when I awoke from that dream:
The universe is telling me to knock it off with this Kimono Extinction
Paranoia stuff. I now understand I have more than enough kimono & obi textiles in my collection.
It really is a trip trying to collect enough one-of-a-kind textiles for the rest of my life. What if I develop a new passion for some colors that I didn't collect?? What if I learn a new way to dye the textiles?
What if???
Although I am very clear that I do not enjoy mass production, I am not sure exactly what kind of art I want to create. Is it art that takes a month to create? You know, the kind of stuff that provides the deepest nurturance for your soul,
but usually leaves you wondering about the path to the poorhouse.
If somewhere in the future, I feel certain that I will be designing mostly extremely detailed pieces, then I should sell part of my kimono/obi collection, because I will be using such a small amount of fabric. It could be done as an informal get-together, maybe even at a house, and would definitely not be a Texuba event.. This could happen two or ten years from now, who knows?
I know I will want to communicate with the Textile Junkie Community. But how to do this? We are formulating our CORE CUSTOMER LIST from the green Mailing List sheets filled out at the most recent shows. Unfortunately, most people do not keep their email addresses for a long time. Even a group of good snail mails would be helpful for keeping in touch.
For this reason, ALL SERIOUS TEXTILE JUNKIES SHOULD STAY ON OUR LIST, & SEND IN ADDRESS UPDATES FOR BOTH USMAIL & EMAIL.Long-time customers who joined our list back in the stone ages when there was no email should send us their email info. We'll also put your phone # on file if you'd like to provide it. Texuba will not share your information.

Keep in mind that I am retiring Texuba, not selling it. As Owner, I retain full rights to the legendary Texuba name.

IMPORTANT - ABOUT THE
GREEN MAILING LIST FORM:
Our CORE CUSTOMER LIST is based on the Green Mailing List Forms dropped in the box at the most recent Texuba events.
Signing our green Mailing List Form legibly at a previous show identified you as a CUSTOMER.
Signing our green sheet legibly or dropping your mailer in our box at every show you attend identifies you as a REPEAT CUSTOMER & gives you the top priority for future notices.
Signing up on our website identifies you as an INQUIRY.
There is a big difference.
We repeatedly asked everyone to sign at all our shows and we have always had signs posted, but only the really dedicated textile folks followed through.
Many thanks to all of you who dilligently send us their USMail and email address changes. Please continue to do so. We have added an optional phone number line and comment line to the Contact Us page. We will do our best to provide Maui contact information in the future.
Keep in touch, and be sure to let me know what shenanigans you've been up to!

We will have our super-sturdy "Z-Racks" available for purchase at the LA show. Great rack, great deal, and they disassemble for easy transport in almost any vehicle. Exact details & times for Z-Rack availability will be posted here and at the show. Please contact us if you are interested in large quantity of Z-Racks.
We bought our racks new from Sean James Enterprises for over $100 each. (Which is a very good price.) They are the Traditional Heavy Duty Double Row Z-Racks. You can read more about Z-Racks and see the famous "2 guys doing chin-ups" picture at http://www.garmentrack.com/. Much better than those flimsy $20 laundry racks in the discount stores!
Also, our warehouse shelves came from a Home Depot- same massive 10 ft structures you see in their stores holding all their inventory. Contact us if you're interested in buying any shelves, fixtures, cash registers, etc.

More Exciting News:
The incredible "Fashioning Kimono" book, highly recommended in our last
newsletter (and featured below) is currently spotlighted in a grand exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
How wonderful that they chose to honor and recognize these treasures before they are all gone. Try to go see it if you are in the Philadelphia area. Through July 20, 2008.
http://www.philamuseum.org/exhibitions/308.htm/
Many of our customers have expressed a desire to learn as much as they can about the kimono that we carry, many of which are from the early-mid 1900s. Many of you have already told me how thrilled you were with the book, which is companion to the Museum exhibition.
Texuba is one of the few companies who specailize in kimono from this era, and our closing June show will be the last chance to buy kimono from this illustrious time period. This is the last of the cultural relics, folks!
While you're at the Final Texuba Show this weekend, look around for a picture sreen with many kimono images from the Fashioning Kimono book. Then check out the racks of kimono and be delighted with the similar items you can find!
